The middle class has been commandeered to support a bloated bureaucratic apparatus. An apparatus that has successfully decoupled itself from the voice of that middle class. The middle class has become enslaved and is milked by ever finely tuned taxes, fees, charges and penalties (in truth more taxes).
The cohesion of the family unit has been under assault which in turn has been a key factor in the reduction in the birth rate. Moving on from that kill the Left then shifts to the spread of the propaganda that "your welfare state is not sustainable by the birth rate, you will need mass immigration" to solve this. To ensure that mass immigration, the key weapon of mass destruction, the Left pushes the propaganda of "the sin to be redeemed" via asylum laws and refugee conventions.
The one-two punch links can also be seen with education and the degradation of apprenticeship systems. Students are being pushed to University education in preference to trade education. The propaganda is that everyone should be able to go the University, capable or not. Universities are now focused on mass education and delivering propaganda programs. The shift has meant that many trade institutions had to become Universities and others have disappeared altogether. The manufacturing industry has suffered under the strained of the resulting scarcity of qualified labour. This has accelerated the decline of manufacturing but not caused it. The cause decline is another piece propaganda: globalisation. So here comes the two punch: give the problem, what is the solution? Guess what: immigration, immigration of 'skilled labour'.
Globalisation, the propaganda fiction of a flat world and level playing field, is clearly just that fiction. The largest manufacturing economy 1), China is not a level playing field and the Yuan is carefully managed by a elites of the Chinese communist party. Kyoto is a prime example of a mechanism to destroy wealth in the hated economies under the propaganda that it would save the planet. But knowing full well that this was a lie since a system excluding China and India would have no impact on absolute emission - in fact just the opposite.
All these issues are linked in accelerating the destruction or enforcing mantras by creating self-fulfilling prophecies.

The final flicker
The final flicker of the Easter Roman Empire extinguished in 1452 with the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans. The Holy Roman Empire saw itself as the heir to the Western Roman empire and ancient Greece. And, in a way, we can argue a continuity of vision between the vision of a Europe of Charlemagne and the vision behind the European Economic Community post WWII. However, today's EU has no connection with this vision. As many have pointed out, the monstrosity of the EU is closer to the heirs of the USSR.
So one can argue that the somewhere between 1945 and 2012 the final flicker of the the Western Roman empire went out. The exact date is hard to pinpoint from our immersed perspective but key contributing elements are 1) the culture of self hatred stemming from the holocaust, colonialism, and segregation, that opened the door to the systematic instrumentalisation of the UN Asylumn and Refuge conventions to break the social cohesion of European peoples, 2) for Germany the fatal signing, as a result of pressure from the United States, of the Anwerbeabkommen between West Germany and Turkey in 1961 (for France and GB the ending of Colonialism and the resulting guilt tripping), and 3) the end of the USSR (26 December 1991).
So we could date the final flicker as 1991. The disintegration has been gathering pace since then and of course contributed to the events of 2001, ten years later (see Hamburg cell). The love embrace of left-wing terrorism and Islamic terrorism was the training ground for the Greens like Joschka Fischer and Daniel Cohn-Bendit (1994 he was elected to the European parliament), thinking that became mainstream EU thinking post-1991.

Stockholm syndrome
How does the Western Left do it? Its extraordinary in its breath and depth that it has dangerously taken on a life of its own.. How do 'they' maintain such control over all societal levers - especially language and media (guilt), legal development (fear), and educational indoctrination (identity, good vs evil).
Controlling all levers leads to also being able to control the wholesale rewriting of history, and to the fiction of the 'Left' holding the moral high ground.
Even 'our' inability to redefine the 'other' outside of the trap of Left-vs-Right is working against addressing this dangerous loss of reason, diversity and fairness. Any reaction is 'Right' which, in turn, automatically becomes labelled as 'Right Extremism'. And then 'Right Extremism' is mapped to racism, hate and inequality, creating perfect cover for the attrocities of the of the 'Left'.
The reaction movement is stuck in extraordinary doubt and loss of self confidence - trapped in just defending against charges rather than defining - this is Exactly right EV.

I am not sure I agree with that. The problem is that "offensive" is generally taken to be a subjective response. A reasoned argument should not be rejected because of feelings. That leads to a systematic denial. This we see in our own western societies where the prevailing left-wing dogma cultivates and fosters this denial in its "subjects" using all instruments of this society.
We also see this dogma not afford equal right to be offended to each section of the society. Christians, for example, does not have the right to be offended.
In other words, the "right to not be offended" is not about fundamental human rights but it is really a political tool along with a racist notion of guilt. Our right to reject an ideology has been taken away by labelling all such rejection has "hate".
The dogma we have spewing out of left-wing commentators every day and increasingly shrill is: when right-wing though rejects it hate when left-wing though rejects it is saving us - saving us from ourselves.

The cancer of Socialism and the infection of Islam
To defeat the infection of islam you have to defeat the cancer that has allowed it to gain a foothold and prosper. The cancer is Socialism - euphemistically eluded to by Wilders and others as Multi-culturalism and Political Correctness and Hate-Speech Laws.
Islamo-socialism needs to be confronted, and then the internal contradictions and the blunting of the "sword" will arrest Islamization and cause it to recede to the paradises of Islam like Saudi-Arabia, and Somalia.
Even without the infection of Islam, Europe is not coming to grips with the cancer of Socialism. Keynesianism, 'Das Kapital' in sheep's clothing, is bringing inefficient, post-industrial, debt-addicted European economies to their knees, one by one. The response of the welfare conditioned populace is to strike, and to blame the foreign bankers for not recognizing the country's lack of sovereign self control.
To defeat islam we have to do more than ban the burka and the niqaab, and Geert Wilders knows and understands this. Here are some specific things the West can and, really, must do:
1) stop the nanny state mentality
2) stop the infringement of personal freedoms in the name of security
3) repeal hate-speech laws
4) challenge propaganda of self-hatred and cultural relativism taught to our kids
5) stop the reliance on oil from the Middle East
6) stop expanding welfare state by the long term debt - effectively robbing our grand-children
7) tear up the sham that is the Refugee Convention
8) leave the UN to the champions of human rights like Iran, Syria and Libya.
9) put tariffs on Chinese imports to compensate for the drastically undervalued Yuan (RMB)
10) let go of the dream of democratisation of islamic states and disengage militarily

Seeking a solution out of anarchy
The Islamic conquest is essentially on autopilot. As has been said many times: demographics is destiny. PC/MC amplifies this problem by disarming the host.
Given this, an Islamic enemy that bides his time or, similarly, every Islamists attack that is thwarted, is a victory not for us but for Islamists.
In the last 10 years the Islamists have made great strides in Europe and to some extent in the US.
The hate speech laws allow the left-wing fascist to cut off any political movement at its infancy.
These are the depressing facts that we are confronted with on a daily basis.
While there has been some political progress in the last year against the PC/MC advocates the progress is to fragile and timid.
Various commentators have offered solutions that fall within the democratic and constitutional framework - along the lines of waking up out of the consumerism and MSM stupor. However, it will take a great leap of faith to believe that these solutions will be able to, firstly, stop the progress of Islamization and then reverse it.
The solution or the reversal will in all likelyhood not be pretty. I don't think it had to be this way but PC/MC has one after the other closed off all the sane defence mechanism.
Perversely in our desperation we may join our enemies in seeking a solution out of anarchy. When we pass this point we will all regret it and realising this we return to our leap of faith option but with increased resolve.

You are a Hater - end of discussion
The term "hate" has become an ideological signature term of the left.
An ideological terms has lost all its conventional meaning and must, instead be understood in terms of a device, or weapon to attack and put down their ideological opponents. I will capitalise the term to indicate the left-wing meaning.
A left-wing ideolog will point the finger and say - this one is a Hater and this signal to the horde standing behind the accuser. They nod approvingly, with pitch fork in hand, and implicitly understanding what the next steps of the left-wing fascists machinery must be brought to bear against the accused.
It is the modern form of the accusation - "she is a Witch" - ahh, yes, now we know what to do .
This connection should hardly be surprising, since the secular left-wing ideology is highly religious in its operation - there are tenants that are beyond reason (beliefs) and reason is no defence. So, Geert and Elizabeth, just confess to the crimes against the ideology and the inquisition will show mercy.
A left-wing ideolog is not capable of Hate. They have only Pity when they take you down. Hate is really some metal defect of the Right. Haven't we recently seen great examples of this reflex 'reasoning' of left-wing political stooges.
